Greetings Ranch Roadrunners,
Welcome to the 2016-2017 school year at Ranch Elementary. Can you believe that summer vacation is almost over? I do hope that you have enjoyed time with family and friends. I count it a privilege to work with each of you individually, as a team of parents and a team of community members as we continue to build a professional learning community where all children from all backgrounds gain confidence in advancing their academic skills.
There is a lot of excitement ahead of us including the implementation of a developmental writing program for students in K-6th grade. This writing program will focus on the utilization of Thinking Maps and writing beyond the elementary years. “Write from the Beginning” is a comprehensive writing program for students in kindergarten through sixth grade. You can view more information online. We will continue to implement the phonics program for students in grades K-3 and the math curriculum for students in grades K-6. You can review information about these programs on the Wilson Language Training website and the Math Expressions website.
Class lists will be posted in the breeze-way at noon on Monday, August 1. Please understand that we have worked very hard to create balanced classrooms. Meet the Teacher night for all programs is Monday, August 1 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Transportation, food service, and community education will be available to meet with families during this time in the multipurpose room. We will have a bus parked out front for families of first time bus riders to tour, assist with the curiosity factor, and alleviate any fears that these students may have about riding a bus.
While visiting the classroom you will be able to pick up a school handbook, AzMERIT test results, and a supply list (located under the parent quicklinks). We ask that you update your emergency contact information, consider being a room parent, and join PTO. We look forward to a great year of teamwork!
The first day of school for K–6th grade is Wednesday, August 3. Students should not arrive on campus prior to 7:55 a.m. as there is not any supervision prior to this time. The first bell rings at 8:10 a.m. and learning begins promptly at 8:15 a.m. Wednesdays are early release at 1:35 p.m. including the first day of school.
